This year Lent starts on Wednesday, 18th February – Ash Wednesday – just after all the pancakes!

Holy Week & Easter Services
This Years Lent Charity is Tearfund.
Tearfund is an international Christian relief and development agency based in the UK. It currently works in around 50 countries with primary focus on supporting those in poverty and providing disaster relief for disadvantaged communities. Church of England Lent Resources
This year’s theme is ‘Draw Near – Life Giving Habits for Lent’.
“Draw near to God, and he will draw near to you”

The focus is on everyday discipleship. Based on the Affirmations of the Christian Way:
- Worshipping
- Praying
- Exploring the Bible
- Sharing communion
- Offering service
- Sharing the Good News with others

For children and families there is a 40 acts Lent challenge focussing on generosity. If you would like to delve deeper into this year’s themes there is a further book – the Archbishop of Canterbury’s Lent Book2026, Dancing to the Heartbeat of God (SPCK), which offers personal stories of discipleship from around the Anglican Communion. Lenten Study Groups
If you would like to explore themes of Lent in more detail with others, why not consider joining one of our study groups?
- The Beale’s HouseGroup (c/o Joanne) meeting on a Monday evening and will be continuing with their study of the Gospel of John hoping to align in time for easter!
- Monday HouseGroup on Zoom (c/o Rosie) will be studying ‘Jesus final week’, starting on Monday 23rd February Lifebuilder Bible Study: Jesus’ Final Week: Free Delivery when you spend £15 at Eden.co.uk or Amazon.co.uk : jesus final week lifebuilder study
- Friday HomeGroup (c/o Petra) will be using the Church of England Resources.
You would be welcome to join one of these groups, either for the Lenten period or for longer. Please just speak with the group leaders or with any of the ministry team.
