St Mary’s Church welcomes enquiries about christenings, also called baptisms. These are joyful occasions to welcome both children and adults into the church and, for the very young, into their new community.
Anyone who lives in the parish is entitled to have their child baptised at St Mary’s. These celebrations take place either at the 9:15am or 10:45am services on the fourth Sunday of the month or, in special circumstances, on any Sunday afternoon of the month at 3:45pm.
We take very seriously the commitment we make during the service to welcome the newly baptised – whether they are babies, older children or adults. We look to support and encourage those baptised on their journey of faith, particularly in the various activities we run for children of all ages (Refresh, Sunday School, Sawston Youth Group).
If you would like to know more about a baptism/christening service, please contact Revd Alan Partridge.
Please note that St Mary’s Community Hall is a lovely place for post-baptism party!
